Blame the Chinese?
Are we to try to take the Chinese down with us? Help me understand...those half a world away who a) make things b) sell things  c) accumulate profits  d) save money  e) invest in R & D  f) loan us money  g) finance our entire nation...again and again, and we have the stupidity to blame the Chinese for our woes? Please don't waste my time.

Spectacular Day in Fall River
Today we video-ed the Fall River waterfront, waking up. Yoga in the park at 6:00 pm, views from the Battleship Massachusetts, joggers and dog-walkers moving up and down the waterfront to Point Gloria and back. A lovely day. We expect to be at work recording numerous waterfront activities over the next week or ten days. Stay tuned!

Seed the Country
The Congress has apparently forgotten what has made this country great. How about returning to the idea of small, fledgling businesses springing up everywhere. Out of these will come successes...new generations of companies equipped for the times, able to hire, pay taxes, and all the debt we have wracked up in recent months and years. Let's rediscover how to make it easier for small businesses to success. At present, small business success is growing more unlikely, and difficult to achieve. President Obama, are you listening?

The Value of Friends

An editorial about the value of friends was recently sent to me...by a friend. I offer it to anyone who may wish to be reminded of who gets us through. Two other noteworthy poems have shown up to mark the end of National Poetry Month

Love After Love

The time will come
when, with elation
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

Derek Walcott, 1992 Winner Nobel Prize for Literature

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair grows in me
and I wake in the middle of the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting for their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Wendell Berry

Thank you, to all the Angels we call friends, who help get us through.
