| Extended Fall River Line Pier |

|
| Center for Commerce on Water, Home to University of Fall River |
What if the current City of Fall River Pier used its 100,000 sqare
foot roof to collect solar power? What if it used its wharf
to collect wind power? What if the Braga Bridge were also converted to a massive solar collection
device? What if the empty Borden & Remington building on the left were to become the technologically
driven center of environmental stewardship in the region known as the University of Fall River? What if the Upper Narragansett Bay delivered useful electrical energy to the City grid
drawn from its tidal power?

The Energy Leader in New England:
Witness the New Century, Finally! Artist George Delany creates vision of a city transformed, the city of Fall River, Ma.-- What
if new buildings were designed to "generate energy" rather than consume? What if buildings resemblling sails in distance are solar-wrapped; the
solar cells rotate in response to the season and orientation of the sun. What if the City of Fall River runs on a combined power system merging
wind, water, geothermal, tidal and solar-- all that potential energy converted into useful, sustainable, alternative, liberating
electrical energy (FREE!-- See Fall River Energy Enterprise). Milton Hershey School: In 2003, at the time a new President arrived to lead this unusual institution, George Delany, MHS '64 submitted his
proposal describing features and attributes of the school he would like to see. Here is a brief selection from this presentation. What if the School began to use its
vast stores of silage and agricultural biomass to power a large, self-sustaining educational center in the form of a climate-controlled
geodesic dome adjacent to the original upper school at MHS? What if the School pioneered electrical use of overhead transportation powered not by
oil but by alternative energy derived from plant matter to provide local transportatiion around the town of Hershey, Pa? What if the School utilized
the enormous heat stored in the hill underneath these structures to heat the buildings, themselves? These are the first in a series of Vision,
Insight and Innovation contributions to be posted to this website. In each case, George Delany asks, "What if?" and endeavors to
move from what is familiar to discover some other solution to the daunting challenges of our times.
